Updated in TeX Live, think there is nothing more to do here, closing.

Thanks for the report. This seems more like a issue in TeX4ebook, the content of macro used to print author in the metadata was set to warning message when Amsart class is used. It should be fixed in the development version of TeX4ebook now.

When I use the amsart document class (there might be problems in other ams document classes too, I did not check), I see that the author does not appear in the content.opf or ncx file.

I just upload the simplest MWE.
