From within its GUI, you can pick a directory where there is a large collection of txt files that was recovered with Photorec, choose a destination directory, and let this program try to recover the original files for the Microsoft Messenger chat log files, those files storing the conversations made with this instant messenger. The resulting files are formatted in HTML with colors and fonts to look closely like the original one.
