This issue was resolved sometime in the last ten years, as the resulting MathML code is correct. What is incorrect is the rendering in LibreOffice, which doesn't show the hat over α. The same code works without problems in Firefox, so I guess it is a LO bug.

Translating the equation $\hat{\alpha}_{bc}$ using oolatex produces wrong results. Both $\hat{a}_{bc}$ and $\hat{\alpha}_b$ work correctly.

When double-clicking the faulty equation in LibreOffice, the display at the bottom reads "hat α}_{b c". If I change it to "{hat α}_{b c}", the result looks as expected. Perhaps some part of the process is too eager to remove braces?
